Talk Radio Station Bias

We have a talk radio station here in Ottawa. Like many talk radio stations in both Canada and the US the on air program hosts tend to be very very right wing. Most (a large majority) of the hosts believe in the following right wing causes

1 Global Cooling
2 Restricting a woman's right to choose
3 Labour unions right to strike - one even questions a union's right to exist
4 Virulent anti-left wing parties and groups
5 Criticizing gays and lesbians' lifestyles
6 Public health care insurance here in Canada

Since so many of these talk show hosts are of a very conservative ideology and their audience is much more diverse I took the time to express this concern when they last were up for licence renewal. Regrettably when I saw the licensing body's notice of their licence renewal, I found out I was the only one to express such a concern.

My conclusion is that people in the centre or left side of the political spectrum here in Canada treat that station as a spokesperson for views with which most reasonable people disagree.. some might even listen for its 'entertainment' value. ((:-))
